Vaughan, Thursday, June 2nd – The Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, encourages residents of Vaughan to learn more about the contributions of Canadians of Filipino heritage and to participate in commemorative services being held at Vaughan City Hall on Sunday, June 5th at 11am.
“Our Government appreciates the valuable contributions the Filipino-Canadian community has made to our national identity,” said Minister Fantino. “It is important that their achievements be celebrated and recognized through occasions such as Vaughan’s Filipino Day.”
“Today is a special day for Filipino’s in Vaughan because we remember our history and celebrate our continued traditions in our new home, Canada. I hope that the people of Vaughan will come out on Sunday to City Hall to celebrate June 5th as Filipino Day in Vaughan,” said Lorenzo Torres the president of the Filipino Seniors Club of Vaughan.
