June 26, 2011

Vaughan – The. Hon. Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, encourages residents of Vaughan to celebrate Canadian diversity in Vaughan on Multiculturalism Day June 27th, 2011.

On November 13th, 2002 June 27th was designated at Canadian Multiculturalism Day by Royal Proclamation. June 27th is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and our commitment to democracy, equality and mutual respect. It is also an opportunity to consider the many contributions made to Canadian society by various multicultural groups and communities.

“I would like residents of Vaughan to take advantage of this occasion to learn more about the many cultural communities that make Vaughan what it is; the best city in Canada. Vaughan is representative of the successes of multiculturalism, mutual respect and prosperity through common values,” said Minister Fantino.

Vaughan has many cultural groups and organizations that offer a taste of their heritage to residents of our city. For more information on Celebrate Canada please visit www.celebratecanada.pch.gc.ca.
